You want entertainment? Gael Monfils provides it.

This is box office stuff from the 38-year-old Frenchman (THIRTY-EIGHT!!).

The volume has been turned up so loud on Court Philippe Chatrier that you can probably here it on the Champs-Elysees.

That's not actually a massive exaggeration... I a couple of years ago when La Monf won a late-night thriller here after being 4-0 down in the fifth set against Sebastian Baez.

I'd headed home for the night and you could hear the cheers as I approached my hotel - which was three kilometres away.

Gael Monfils is starting to read the patterns of play, he is riding the crest of a wave right now.

That is the biggest forehand we have seen in the tournament, that was spectacular.

This is getting increasingly tough on Jack Draper mentally, it is like being a gladiator in the middle of this great arena where everyone is cheering for your opponent. It's so tough.

  3. Monfils breakspublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 29 May

    *Monfils 3-6 5-2 Draper

Gael Monfils gets involved in a lengthy rally - something he has been keen to avoid - and it doesn't pay-off. The Frenchman loses steam and finds the net.

    Oh my.

A groan from Monfils as he opens up his body at the baseline and guides a forehand into the corner.

Quite remarkable stuff and a second break for the 38-year-old.

Jack Draper is fighting on multiple fronts here. The Briton is not only up against a flowing Gael Monfils but a raucous French crowd too.

The Briton fires into the net and Monfils has two break points.

It is quite atmospheric tonight, I want to say the best of the tournament so far.

Only one hour into this match but the crowd is already into it like no other time.

Philippe Chatrier erupts not once but twice as Gael Monfils races into a 30-0 lead.

Initially it's a well-placed shot down the line after being run across the baseline and defending before a cross-court shot catches out Jack Draper.

Monfils turns away with his arms outstretched and smiling. He's having fun out there.

    Monfils 3-6 4-2 Draper*

Jack Draper had nine unforced errors across the entire first set but has already had seven in this second.

That's in contrast to Gael Monfils - nine in the first set and just two in this second.

Monfils is gaining momentum and holds on serve at a crucial time.

  8. 'Don't know how Monfils is still able to play at this high level'published at 20:30 British Summer Time 29 May

    Daniela Hantuchova

I honestly don't know how Gael Monfils is able to still play at this high level.

When he broke Jack Draper, he didn't celebrate too much because you have to save energy.

Jack Draper had to overcome adversity in his first round match when coming from a set down to beat Italy's Mattia Bellucci.

Now he faces a first serious test in this match.

    And he takes it.

    The veteran Frenchman breaks.

Jack Draper goes long and Gael Monfils is back in this match.

I almost feel that what Jack Draper is doing in his career, that could have been Gael Monfils 15 years ago.

Tension builds further when Jack Draper fouls on first serve.

But he is the coolest man on Philippe Chatrier when he sneaks a winner down the line for deuce.

Daniela is spot on. The last thing you need to be doing against someone 15 years your junior is engaging in rally after rally.

Gael Monfils draws a huge response from the crowd - that'll add a bit of energy to the legs momentarily - as he whips a forehand down the line and Jack Draper returns to the net.

Monfils has a chance to break!

A second successive hold to love for Jack Draper.

Not since 1968 have three British men held a spot in the third round of the French Open.

With Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley advancing earlier today, Draper is well on track now to them in round three.

Gael Monfils still has something in the tank, will it be enough to force his way back into this contest? Who knows!

After losing three successive games the Frenchman gets a hold to 15.
