That's all from us on a mixed day for the British hopes at the French Open.

Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal both lost in the second round as the nation's interest in the French Open women's singles came to an end.

But Cameron Norrie, Jacob Fearnley and Jack Draper are through to the third round - the first time three British men have made it to that stage at the French Open since 1968.

Norrie and Fearnley will square off to ensure that at least one Briton is in the fourth round, while Jack Draper meets Brazil's Joao Fonseca.

We'll be back live at 11:00 BST on Friday.

It is wonderful to see Jack Draper getting the appreciation after the match.

Wonderful scenes between both guys and how much they respect each other.

It was a privilege to watch this match.

  7. 'Huge respect to Gael'published at 22:58 British Summer Time 29 May

    Monfils 3-6 6-4 3-6 5-7 Draper

British number one Jack Draper speaking after beating Frenchman Gael Monfils: "Bonsoir. First off, I have to acknowledge Gael. It is my first time on this court. What a battle against someone I ire. He is a joker, he is a magician, he does everything. Huge respect to him. I hope he is able to play here one more time again in the future."

Toughest match he has played? "There are some tough ones. I'm starting to play more in these Grand Slams. Playing Gael in front of you guys as well, no offence taken. This is why I play tennis, to play in front of big crowds and to play in matches like this whether the crowd are with me or against me so thank you."

On dealing with the match mentally: "My brain was fried out here. I'm not sure if I am going to go to sleep tonight because my brain is just all over the place with what he was doing out here. That's why he has had such a successful career and is loved by all the fans. The players love to watch him play as well but not to play against him.

"There were times where I was very frustrated but I reminded myself that this is why I put in the hard work to play on courts like this in front of you guys. It is something I enjoyed while I was playing even though it didn't look like it."

Next up for Jack Draper is Brazil's Joao Fonseca in the third round.

Fonseca beat 's Pierre-Hugues Herbert earlier today and became the youngest player (18y 277d) to reach that stage in the men's draw at the French Open without dropping a set since Rafael Nadal (18y 354d) in 2005.

Draper will need to recover quickly for that encounter on Saturday.

And that victory for British number one Jack Draper means we have three British men in the third round of the French Open for the first time since 1968.

Draper s Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley in reaching that stage.

Norrie and Fearnley will go head-to-head in the third round so we are guaranteed at least one Briton in the fourth round too.

I'm also still waiting for anyone to get in touch with the three British men who reached the third round in 1968...

What a wonderful moment, to see those two.

They have just had the biggest hug I have ever seen at the net.

    Jack Draper gets it done.

That was an enthralling watch, full of twists and unpredictable for large periods.

We saw the silly and the sublime.

Huge credit to Gael Monfils for digging deep but you have to tip your hat to Draper for blocking out a partisan crowd to get through to round three.

There may still be a fifth set but you feel that Jack Draper has just nipped it in the bud.

But, I'm not betting against Gael Monfils.

Spectators are loving the Monfils show, they have had a night they will never forget.

It's another very tired attempt at a shot from Gael Monfils as he slides across the baseline and meets the ball with the rim of his racquet.

Gael Monfils has the chance to hold but fails to convert and we reach second deuce.

The Frenchman needs a moment to gather himself as he leans on his trusty racquet again.

A very fatigued shot puts Jack Draper back on the front foot.

For the first time, Monfils is so tired he can't even muster a smile.

The finishing line is in sight for Jack Draper - win two games and he's in round three - but for Gael Monfils it's still some way off in the distance, taking this set would mean we've got a fifth set on our hands.

Draper steps up to the net and a drop shot gives him the chance to earn a crucial break.
