Just a ball after hitting the first boundary in front of the wicket in an hour and 20 minutes, he is caught by Ian Holland at fourth slip.

Jamie Overton is writhing around on the ground after narrowly failing to take his second catch of the morning, again off Tom Lawes.
Lawes found the edge of Chris Benjamin's bat and the ball dropped fractionally short of Overton at first slip, jamming his finger against the turf.
The physio is on, but it looks as though Overton should be fine to resume - which is just as well for Surrey after Dan Worrall was ruled out by a shoulder injury just before the start. Conor McKerr is in to replace him.
Essex 51-0 v Somerset

The Essex openers are going well.

Ollie Price, who scored a half-century on this ground against Hampshire last week, was looking a good bet for another today.
But James Sales has other ideas - the young Northants seamer tempts Price outside off stump and he drags on to end a partnership of exactly 50 with Chris Dent.
Miles Hammond is the new man at the crease for Gloucestershire.

Still no joy for the league leaders, who must have been confident of early inroads against a Warwickshire team sliding down the table.
But it's so far, so good for the Bears, with Alex Davies and Dom Sibley advancing to 36 without loss in the first hour.

Worse news for Yorkshire fans.
Another one bites the dust. Jonny Tattersall.
Mohammad Abbas nips one back off a length, Tattersall offers no stroke and it embarrassingly clatters into the timbers.
Abbas now has figures of 7-3-7-3. Reads almost like a golf scorecard.
And Keith Barker (7-2-11-1) has been pretty tidy too.
The pair have so bowled unchanged in ideal bowling conditions, although Kyle Abbott is now at least going to get a go.

The build-up to this one was about the long-awaited return of Durham batsman Sean Dickson.
He hasn't played since Durham picked up their only County Championship win this season, against Glamorgan in May. But he didn't appear on the team sheet, which has surprised a few of us.
Durham were obviously keeping their powder dry about another player too, England fast bowler Matty Potts, who is playing in his first game for the club since that Glamorgan win.
By contrast, he wasn't in the squad of 13 but I gather Durham were told by the ECB over the weekend that he could play in this one.
England opener Alex Lees is out in the middle with Michael Jones, who is due to the Scotland one-day squad later in the week. It's muggy and they are playing on a green top. So these are decent conditions for the bowlers to try and exploit.
