McLaren's Lando Norris snatched pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix from local hero Charles Leclerc's Ferrari with the final lap of qualifying.
Norris beat Leclerc by 0.109 seconds as the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri took third place ahead of Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen, so far the McLaren drivers' only title rival, could manage only fifth place for Red Bull.
Racing Bulls' French rookie Isack Hadjar took sixth place ahead of Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso.

A decision on the Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen impeding incident is yet to come in. The Dutchman is speaking to Sky Sports and says it wasn't not the Ferrari man's fault, but if you look at the history books, Hamilton may well end up with a penalty.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who will start third on the grid: "Intense as it always is around here. It’s quite reminiscent of last year, the first lap felt good and the second lap I made a mistake in the chicane and I left a little bit on there.
"To beat Lando [Norris] today was going to be tough, so well done to him. But I’m still pretty happy. It’s been a pretty messy weekend so far, so to come out with a lap that I thought was pretty good and third is a decent result.
On getting the lap together: “I think I’ve hit more walls this weekend than I have in my whole career, so it’s been untidy. I've been struggling to get into the groove a little bit and I think in qualifying I was much happier with things and I felt pretty good.
"We've been doing some digging this weekend and to come out with this result is a decent effort."
On the race: "We have thought about it but a lot depends on where you qualify, we're in good positions but it's still going to be an exciting race tomorrow with the two-stop, so let's see what happens."

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who will start his home race in P2: "There's always something more to be done but at the end of the day this was the best we could do. The first lap was a bit of a shame because this gives you a bit more confidence for the second run when you have a first good lap. I couldn't do that because I had sector two traffic, but that's the way it is.
"Obviously, I'm frustrated. We know we don't quite have the car to go for wins this year, but this weekend the car felt good. Starting second it's going to be tricky to then get that first place."
On why this track suits him: "I like city tracks in general. I like to go all in to qualifying and take maximum risk, and most of the time it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. But I'm proud of the result today as on paper it was going to be a difficult weekend for us. But in the end it's not that bad."

McLaren’s Lando Norris will start in pole position in Monaco: "It’s been a long time coming, I feel good, I don’t think you realise how good this feels with quite a few struggles over the last couple of months, especially here in Monaco, it’s a beautiful place and the hardest track probably to do it.
"Up against the home town hero, I’m very proud of the whole team, we’ve worked a lot over the last few months to get to a day like today so I’m very pleased."
On the run plan: "No risk from our side. It’s what we believed was best before qualifying and proven to be the best after so we stuck to what we believed in.
"The team have done a fantastic job so thank you to everyone here and back at the factory. These days don’t come easy. I’m proud to give something back to them."
On the mentality: "That’s the tricky part and to consistently find a lap time because you know it’s what the others are going to be doing and improving more and more.
"You’ve got to take a similar amount of risks but when you get to Q3, the final lap is just about who can risk a little bit more and commit a little bit more.
"It was a nice and well put together lap and it feels very good when you cross the line and you know it’s all paid off."
On the two-stop: "Honestly at the minute I have no idea, I’m going to enjoy today and I’ve worked hard for today. I’m happy with qualifying and I’m going to live the moment a little bit and then I will focus on tomorrow."

This is Lando Norris' 11th career pole position but only his second of the 2025 season; his first coming at the opener in Australia two months ago.
He won from pole in Melbourne, and the front-row spot is crucial in Monaco, so if the two-stop race stays calm, a victory in Monte Carlo could boost his championship credentials.

It's a great result for Racing Bulls today with both cars are starting in the points in Monaco. Isack Hadjar, the rookie, is sharing a row with four-time world champion Max Verstappen in sixth place.
So, we know where. everyone is starting but what will happen by the end of the mandatory two-stop race tomorrow? Will it throw jeopardy into the ring and force team to take risks? Will there be some much-needed overtaking?

Lewis Hamilton finishes fourth and will share a row with Oscar Piastri. Max Verstappen couldn't quite find his rhythm on the softs so he'll start in fifth place, with rookie Isack Hadjar for company.
Hamilton and Verstappen have just had a quick chat after qualifying. The two are under investigation for an impeding incident earlier on in qualifying.
