We asked for you to tell us what Liverpool need to do in the summer transfer window, having already signed Jeremie Frimpong.

Here are some of your comments:

Ken: With Frimpong sealed, I hope Liverpool move quickly for Kerkez and Wirtz to get the priority gs done before pre-season. Almost everyone is looking for a centre-forward so I'm intrigued to see if Liverpool have identified anyone or whether they will use the existing options as auxiliary forwards with a greater emphasis on the playmakers dropping deep to create for the runs of Salah, Gakpo and Diaz.

Josh: g Wirtz will not mean much unless we get a decent striker. Priority needs to be getting good money for Nunez and g Ekitike.

Martin: Wirtz would be an amazing g but I think we definitely need to fill the number nine position. We create so many chances that an Isak would pray on. Arsenal will come on strong if they they get a couple of forwards, so we need to be one step ahead.

Fraser: Looks we're ahead of the curve this time. I'm really excited. Getting Frimpong and Wirtz done early is a great start. Hopefully Kerkez will be ing us soon as well. With the full-back issue sorted and Wirtz looking close to being done. Our attention should move to a new striker. Hugo Ekitike would be ideal, but not sure for the price Frankfurt are asking for him. Might also be a good idea to secure another CB for depth and cover, especially if Gomez leaves. For defensive midfield, I'm willing to give Bajcetic a chance.

Yusuf: Arne Slot clearly does not want either Robertson and Tsimikas at the club, and I think bringing in both Kerkez and Julio Soler from Bournemouth would bring much more longevity to the left-back position. I think now is also time to sell Darwin Nunez as soon as possible to cover the transfers we may bring in, as well as Harvey Elliott - his talent is being wasted here under Slot and a team like Crystal Palace or Wolves would be great for him. Finally, the futures of Curtis Jones, Endo and Quansah need to be sorted soon - they have been understudies for some time and frustration may grow if they are not given time into next season, and January may be difficult for the club.

Jacob: There are a few positions that need strengthening for our title defence next season. We need an out-and-out centre-forward and an experienced centre-back. For the number nine, I like the look of Julian Alvarez. With Newcastle getting Champions League, Isak seems a highly unlikely buy. For the centre-back, I think we need someone young and experienced like Bastoni or Hincapie as Konate and Quansah are rumoured to be leaving. I also think Nunez, Tsimikas and Elliott need to leave. I also think Keller might leave to be a number one somewhere else.

  3. 'Phenomenal speed' - what does Frimpong bring to Reds?published at 18:54 30 May

The arrival of Jeremie Frimpong at Liverpool is intended to help soften the blow of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

According to his numbers, the 24-year-old is arriving at Anfield with serious potential.

Frimpong was one of the strongest runners in the Bundesliga in 2024-25, making 1,021 sprints, 2,116 intensive runs, ed a maximum speed of 36.34 km/h, and covered a distance of 259.6km over 33 games.

    He is also versatile.

In Bayer Leverkusen's final game of the season, a 4-2 home defeat by Borussia Dortmund on 11 May, he played as a midfielder and scored. It was Frimpong's 23rd goal in 133 Bundesliga matches.

He also completed 38 sprints - more than any other player on the pitch.

"What I find phenomenal is his speed when he is standing still and those kind of first few steps," former midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger.

"That's what he's got and he loves going forward. So he is equipped to be a wing-back.

"Defensively, he is still a very good player but he is not your typical right-back that you see playing for teams like Inter Milan, who might defend for 90 minutes.

"Of course, there is a lack of height with him. But with his pace, drive and determination to set goals up, to get to the byeline and pull balls back, then wing-back is probably his best position."

Will Frimpong make an instant impact in the Premier League?

With Netherlands team-mates Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch in the Liverpool dressing room, he will be surrounded by some familiar faces as he looks to settle quickly.

"People are talking about Conor Bradley being Liverpool's first-choice right-back next season and I get that, but you need fierce competition and Frimpong would provide that," added BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton.

"I know what an attacking threat he is, how quick and dynamic he is, and how good he is in one-v-one situations."

Following the news of Jeremie Frimong ing Liverpool, we asked you for your thoughts on the right-back's arrival.

Here are some of your comments:

Fran: Frimpong says it's a "no-brainer" from his point of view, and it must be from Liverpool's too. Slight concern about his defensive capabilities. With Mohamed Salah not asked to defend, that side of the pitch will need a bit of thinking about, but I trust Arne Slot to work it out. Overall, very excited with this g.

Roger: Absolutely great deal for Liverpool. This guy will push us even further ahead of the pack. Roll on title 21. It's going to be an exciting summer.

Richard: This is a very smart g. A low fee for a very talented young player, who can compete with Conor Bradley and also cover for Salah if needed. He also injects some much-needed pace into the team - that lack of pace was exposed against Newcastle and PSG. There are question marks about his defensive contributions, but unlike Alexander-Arnold, you cannot question his effort and application!

Andy: Fast, hard-working and exciting! He's not Trent, but no-one else is. He's a great replacement and will help lift Salah's game as well. A very good investment by the Reds.

Adrian: Great business by Liverpool. An exceptional talent like Bradley. He can also cover Salah when at Afcon. Exciting g with more to come!

Callum: Absolutely sensational. What a player for Liverpool - the work-rate, the pace, the quality. Offers us a different option as he will give us that explosive energy to Salah. Overall, I am delighted with the g of Frimpong.

  5. 'I won't let you down' - Frimpong on Anfield movepublished at 17:31 30 May

New Liverpool g Jeremie Frimpong says it was a "no-brainer" to the Reds.

The 24-year-old arrives after spending four and a half years with Bayer Leverkusen, where he made 190 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 44 assists.

He was part of the Leverkusen side that made history last term by winning the Bundesliga and German Cup with a record 51-match unbeaten run that ended in the Europa League final.

Frimpong's arrival is timely following confirmation on Friday a deal had been reached with Real Madrid for Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave his contract early.

"It went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer," Frimpong told club media.

"Liverpool fans, I'm going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, can celebrate together, get everything together.

"I'm just excited to be here. Thank you, guys, for accepting me and I won't let you down. I'll give you the energy you guys want."

Frimpong added: "I spoke to the manager [Arne Slot] a few times.

"When a manager is talking positively about you, it gives you very good confidence that he believes in you. I've had good conversations with him.

"Even when I was at [the] national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like: 'He's the best coach I've ever had.'

"Now he's going to be my coach, so I'm excited for that."

  8. What if... the season started in January?published at 11:32 30 May

Pos Team P GD PTS
1	Man City	19	22	40
2	Liverpool	20	17	39
3	Arsenal 20	16	38
4	Aston Villa	19	10	37
5	Newcastle	19	10	34
6	Brighton	19 6	34

As the dust settles on the 2024-25 Premier League season, we have been taking a look at some of the alternative ways the the table could have finished...

A Premier League season can sometimes be a tale of two halves.

Some come flying out of the blocks, while others are more sluggish starters.

The busy Christmas period can be a turning point with the arrival of the January transfer window feeling like a fresh start.

So what might have happened if the league season only start on 1 January?

Well, Pep Guardiola's title-winning machines would have picked up their fifth Premier League trophy in a row.

Playing one game fewer than actual champions Liverpool - who secured the title with four games remaining - they would have finished one point clear of the Reds, not withstanding Arne Slot's side slowdown in form after sealing the title.

City always seem to come good after January, but this time it was not enough to outweigh the torrid time they had from late autumn.

The rest of the top six is not too dissimilar to the final placings, although in this case, Aston Villa would have secured Champions League football and Brighton a Europa League spot in the absence of Chelsea - whose form nose-dived at the very beginning of the year.

And while the new year is a new start for some, it is less so for others.

That was the case for many of those down the bottom of the league.

The relegated trio would still have been relegated and Manchester United and Tottenham would still have ended up in the bottom six. West Ham find themselves one place lower after Wolves picked up form under Vitor Pereira.

So what does this tell us? If you wan to achieve your Premier League ambitions, it is about making sure you are there for nine months and not just from January.

What a horrible and tragic end to a brilliant weekend. The euphoria we felt when walking back from the parade immediately turned into dread, panic and fear.

I was approaching Water Street with three friends as the incident happened. We had had the funniest, most celebratory day. We were giddy and heading back to an apartment to get ready for a night out.

Then all we could see was people running away. We were confused. When we heard the screaming, we knew something bad was happening. As we edged further up the road, we saw the carnage. Police, sirens, bodies lying on the floor and the most visceral screaming I've ever heard. I'll never forget it.

We tried to help a few people on the side of the road. One lad had been knocked over and his dad was crying and trembling beside him.

Rumours flew around the city that night. The atmosphere was sullied and people seemed frightened. Everyone had seen the videos of the incident on social media. Everyone was speculating. The parade seemed a very distant memory.

Yet, it still managed to bring the best out of people. Scos offered their houses up to those affected and we saw people in nearby shops or pubs come out to help those who witnessed it. Tragedy brings unity, especially in Liverpool.

And miraculously, there are no casualties right now. This doesn't fit with what we saw on Monday, or the images circling, but it is incredible. And may those in hospital make a full and quick recovery.

Liverpool fan and writer Adam Beattie spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside about the need to sign another centre-forward this summer: "Darwin Nunez's time has run its course. It has been an experiment, and generally we get it right with the big-money gs, but it's bound to [go wrong] eventually.

"People may be surprised at the fee Nunez may end up commanding because there is not really top-drawer number nines out there.

"It is an area we have needed to freshen for a while. I could make a case to let [Diogo] Jota go but I don't think you can let him and Nunez go. You would be leaving yourself too much to do.

"Even if [Florian] Wirtz comes in, there is an argument to get a number nine - but there are not many that leap out at you."
