Leyton Orient held early League One promotion hopefuls Wrexham to a goalless draw at Gaughan Group Stadium.

The hosts dominated the opening period, but could not profit in front of goal where Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo impressed for the visitors.

He denied Jamie Donley, while Ethan Galbraith and Charlie Kelman saw shots miss the mark.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson sent on George Evans, Paul Mullin and Steven Fletcher in an attempt to break the deadlock after the break.

The changes boosted their performance, but not their efforts in front of goal.

Orient's reward for the draw was to drop three places to 19th while Birmingham City's comeback win over Peterborough United saw them rise above Wrexham to the top of the table.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said:

“I don’t think you can ever devalue a point on your travels. These have had a really good run – obviously the Stockport win last week and they were really good against Peterborough and we didn’t get the control we’d have liked until we made the change on 60 minutes.

“George Evans gave us that extra , which we were crying out for and then really in that last 25 or 30 minutes I thought we were the team who were going to go and win the game.

“A couple of moments fell to us and we couldn’t get that finishing touch to it. But the lads have got to stand strong – it can be tough away from home and it’s about making sure you get back up the road with something.”
