Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer speaking to DAZN: "Anyone who’s ever played football knows how I’m feeling right now.
"That we’ve been knocked out in the closing stages, having led 1-0 until the 88th minute, it’s extremely bitter.
"We’d taken one step to London, we saw ourselves in the final and now I’m lost for words."

I think Borussia Dortmund will be happy with the outcome of this tie. They will have been wanting to beat Bayern Munich but will be happier to lose to Real Madrid is the way I would phrase it.
There is a lot less pressure on them to beat Real Madrid, and pressure is not something that they have dealt with well. They will be happy to be underdogs.
In German football the prism of everything is Bayern v Dortmund, ever since that final in 2013, nationally and internationally, and now in a way it gives German football the chance to break free from that with Dortmund and Leverkusen having the chance to shine the brightest this season.

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel speaking to TNT Sports: "We are almost through, it's almost there and there was a very unusual mistake from our best player for the equaliser then we conceded the second one in stoppage time.
"Then we scored one and there was a disastrous decision from the linesman and the referee. It feels like a betrayal in the end. There was a huge fight, we left everything on the pitch and we were almost there. Now we say congratulations to Real Madrid.
"The linesman says sorry but that does not help. To raise the flag in a moment like this... The referee sees we get the second ball and we get the shot - it's a very, very bad decision. It's against the rules. It's a disaster. It's hard to swallow but that's the way it is.
"Yeah I felt more and more [in control] in the second half. You are never fully sure because it's Real Madrid in Madrid. We could have been more clinical or calm in the opponent's half. We started with a front four and all four has to go out with injury or cramp.
"Yeah because if you are through in the 88th minute you see the end of the tunnel. Was it our very best match? No. But we didn't need to be perfect, we just needed to be good enough in this moment. In the moment when we had one player out with cramp, we conceded a goal we never usually would with our goalkeeper. You have to accept the result in the end."

A lot has been said about one former Stoke City striker in Joselu, but what about the other that came on tonight, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, who replaced no other than Harry Kane.
That will be viewed as the moment Thomas Tuchel lost this for Bayern. You could see it in his facial expression after the second Madrid goal went in, he looked shaken. He usually has a very good poker face Tuchel. That for me was a guy who knew it had all gone wrong.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti speaking to TNT Sports: "I think we played well but to be honest we had opportunities to control the game.
"We had the strength to go up when they scored. It happened again here. It's quite usual at the Bernabeu with our ers. With them, we can do something that is unexpected.
"We believed. Joselu did a fantastic job. He is a fantastic striker. We did really well and had a lot of energy at the end of the game.
"I'm going to enjoy it of course from now until the final. We have fantastic days with our ers to celebrate the league. It will be fantastic. [To the reporter] You can stay in Madrid with us!"
On his players' attitude: "Unbelievable. I'm really grateful to them, they work really hard, I think this is the best squad I have ever had in my career."
It is worth ing that Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by Bayern Munich back in 2017 for being too laid back in his approach. I wonder if the club will now turn the mirror on themselves and think, was this the man we really needed all along? Instead of blowing themselves out with top class manager after top class manager that is seemingly never enough. Now they are on their fourth candidate for a new coach at the minute.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel speaking to DAZN: "It hurts. It’ll take a while to recover, but on the one hand it’s a loss where we left it all out on the pitch.
"Of course, it’s tough to accept. It’s part of reality. No regrets. But on the other, there were too many injuries, a few too many substitutions, too many cramps.
"We started with a front four and by the end they were all off the pitch. And then Manu, who had been exceptional in saving us all night, made a mistake he wouldn’t make in another 100 years."

There isn't many places like this. You feel like the fans have an ability to suck the ball into the net.
It felt powerful, there was a different type of energy in here.

Joselu has scored five Champions League goals this season, with four of those coming in braces against German teams (FC Union Berlin and Bayern Munich).
He’s the third player to score two goals as a substitute in a semi-final, along with Georginio Wijnaldum in May 2019 (Liverpool vs Barcelona) and Rodrygo in May 2022 (Real Madrid vs Manchester City).

The achievements from Carlo Ancelotti are outstanding. But it is not just the trophies and triumphs, it is the way he does it with such equanimity. Not having any enemies.
You can't imagine Thomas Tuchel, no matter how angry he is, turning around and making a dig at Ancelotti. Firstly, the respect would be there, and secondly, he is not that kind of person.
Usually to get to the top of this industry, people have to be stepped on. It doesn't seem like Carlo does that.
The managers that impress me are the ones that do things that you don't see coming. After Madrid went a goal down, Luka Modric immediately came on for Toni Kroos. How quick is your mind to do that? Then he brings on Joselu and you are thinking, is that the right decision? Err yes, with bells on!
Party.

If you look over the two legs, three of Madrid's goals came from mistakes. The manager can't always legislate for that.
We don't think the subs were right, but this is Real Madrid, you can't rule them out - this is what they do.

Joshua Kimmich was completely isolated against Vinicius Junior for a lot of that second half. As a winger if you know your full back behind you is getting destroyed then you can't leave him. Don't do that to the guy, he doesn't deserve it. You have to get back and help out your mate.
Now and again a manager will tell you to stay up the pitch, dont get back. You don't do that in a Champions League semi-final when it is clear that your opponent is getting chance after chance from that one area.

At what point do we declare Harry Kane jinxed? Not winning a trophy at Bayern is pretty compelling evidence...

To take off a guy that has scored over 40 goals - you cannot take him off.
I mean, that's one of the biggest calls. It was in their hands and they let it go.
You can not take Harry Kane off.

Disappointment for Harry Kane, Eric Dier and the Bayern Munich players, who led at the Bernabeu for 20 minutes.

That’s was a clear error by the officials. Why would you raise your flag when it’s that close?
Max
Very dodgy that flag going up - left a sour taste to an incredible semi final
James
That is one of the worst decisions I’ve seen in a long time. The Real player was the one who headed it so no Bayern players were offside. When was the last time a linesman put his flag up that fast?! They are supposed to let the age of play come to an end, ridiculous decision. And why can’t they go back and review it if they have the technology and it’s directly in the lead up to a goal!!?? I’d be livid if I were a Bayern fan

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, speaking to TNT Sports about the attitude at the club: "They talk about how they won the 14th, how they want the 15th. You can never be settled.
"The players feel like family, the fans feel like family. "
On facing his former club Borussia Dortmund in the final: "At Wembley, against Dortmund, it's a weird one, I can't believe it.
"When I was seven years old in Birmingham, I was dreaming of nights like this."

Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with FC Bayern München in the UEFA Champions League (W6 D2), while they haven’t lost any of their last seven games against them in the competition at the Santiago Bernabeu (W6 D1).
Across their previous seven semi-final ties in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, FC Bayern München (4) have progressed on more occasions than Real Madrid (3). However, should los Blancos progress here, it would be the first time a team has won three consecutive semi-final ties in this fixture (2013-14 and 2017-18 previously).
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t lost any of his nine meetings with FC Bayern München in the UEFA Champions League (W6 D3) – following the 2-2 draw in this first leg, this is now the most times a coach has faced an opponent while remaining unbeaten in the history of the competition.
FC Bayern München’s run of 16 consecutive games without a clean sheet against Real Madrid is their longest against an opponent in their European Cup/UEFA Champions League history. Their last shutout against the Spanish side in the competition was back in May 2001, which also came at this stage of the competition (semi-final, first leg).
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is looking to reach a sixth UEFA Champions League final, with his current total of five already the most of any manager. Meanwhile, FC Bayern München’s Thomas Tuchel could become the first coach to reach the final of the competition with as many as three different sides (previously with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea).
FC Bayern München failed to win away from home in the round of 16 (0-1 v Lazio) and quarter-finals (2-2 v Arsenal) in the UEFA Champions League this season. They haven’t gone three consecutive away games without a win in a single campaign since 2015-16 (3); a season in which they were eliminated at the semi-final stage by Atlético de Madrid.
Real Madrid’s opener in the first leg (scored by Vinícius Júnior) came at the end of a 20- sequence; their longest for a goal in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages since May 2018, which came against FC Bayern München at the Santiago Bernabeu (28 es leading to a Karim Benzema goal).
After netting in the first leg, FC Bayern München striker Harry Kane (29) is now just one goal away from equalling Wayne Rooney (30) as the all-time top English scorer in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League.
25% of Toni Kroos’ es in the UEFA Champions League this season have broken at least one opposition line; the highest percentage of any player (min. 300 minutes played). Indeed, the Real Madrid midfielder’s 23 line-breaking es in the first leg of this tie were more than twice as many as any other player (Konrad Laimer, 10).
Since the start of the 2021-22 season, FC Bayern München’s Leroy Sané has been directly involved in more goals following a carry (travelling 5+ metres with the ball) than any other player in the UEFA Champions League (11 – eight goals and three assists).
