What is My Blue Peter?

My Blue Peter is the new place to apply for badges and will keep a handy record of the badges you’ve already got, as well as your badge ID number and badge ID card details.

PLEASE NOTE! You will need a BBC child to sign into My Blue Peter. This means you will need an individual child for each child who is applying.

If you don't have your own BBC Child , grab a grown-up to help and click here to for a BBC . You'll need a parent or guardian's permission to sign up. Once you've done that, you can ! You can find out more about g in and ing for an here.

Do I need to create a new My Blue Peter ?

If you already have a badge, no. Just sign in with your BBC child name and click on 'I have a Badge, find my profile' then let us know your hip number, which is on your badge ID card or any letter we have sent you. Please do not create a new profile as your existing badges will not be displayed.

If this is your first time applying for a Blue Peter badge, then yes, sign in with your BBC child name and create a new My Blue Peter profile.

Do my brothers and sisters have to share the same as me?

No! Your brothers and sisters can sign up for their own BBC child s which can then be linked to your grown-up’s BBC . Grab your grown-up, and read more information on how to set up individual BBC s here.

I’ve forgotten my details, what should I do?

If you cannot your name and/or , you’ll need to create a new BBC child . Visit the BBC help page for more information. If you have created a new BBC child [email protected] with your full name, address and hip number, so we can unlink the My Blue Peter profile from the original it was linked with. Please do not create a new My Blue Peter profile!

My Badges

Why aren’t all of my Blue Peter badges showing?

All badges awarded should have a gold star in the top corner to show it has been awarded, please scroll down the page to see all of the badges. Some may no longer be available to apply for but they will be there. If a badge has been awarded on a duplicate profile [email protected] with your full name, address and hip numbers (if you have them) so we can merge the profiles.

My badge is lost/broken can I have a replacement?

If you have misplaced your badge you can re-apply using My Blue Peter and resubmit an application. Click on the badge that needs replacing and the 'Replace Badge' button in the top corner. 

Unfortunately, it is not possible to replace limited edition or archived badges.

Please note that we are unable to offer replacement badges to anyone aged 16 and over.

My hip Card

I’ve lost my badge ID card, can I have a replacement?

If you have lost your badge ID card you can apply for a replacement via My Blue Peter. Click on 'My Badge Card' along the top of the page and then 'Request Replacement ID Card'.

How long will my badge ID card take to arrive?

hip cards are processed and posted once a month, so please allow 4-6 weeks for your card to arrive.

Sending an Application

Why can’t I submit my application?

Please ensure all fields are completed and the minimum word count is reached. Once this is achieved the submit button will be highlighted.

Why can’t I attach a picture or video?

Please ensure you submit images as a .jpeg or .png file. Please do not email in a photo or video if it can’t be included in your application. We can’t accept email badge applications.

How do I get into badge attractions for free with a Blue Peter badge?

Badge owners, with a valid badge ID card, can gain free entry into over 200 Blue Peter Badge attractions around the UK. You must take your Blue Peter badge and badge ID card with you to gain access. Before you visit any of the attractions, grab a grown-up and read the Blue Peter and Conditions.

What is a badge ID card?

The Blue Peter badge ID card verifies that you are the owner of a Blue Peter badge and aged between 5 and 15 years of age. This allows you to enter the Blue Peter attractions along with your badge and will expire on your 16th birthday.

When you receive your Blue Peter badge, check the letter that came with it. If you do not already have a badge ID card, you will need to follow the link on the letter to apply for one, or you head to My Blue Peter to apply for your badge ID card now.

Can groups or schools apply for Blue Peter badges?

We can’t accept your application as part of a group or school. It’s important for Blue Peter to receive individual applications, so that we know you’ve asked your parent or guardian for permission and asked them to read the Privacy Notice. Each child needs a BBC child to apply for a badge online, which is linked to a parent or guardian’s . (This cannot be a teacher .) Click here for more information about how to for a BBC child . How long will it take for my badge to arrive?

We receive thousands of letters and applications every week and we read every single one, so it can take a bit of time for us to get through them all. We aim to reply to you within 8 to 12 weeks time. We have received an unprecedented amount of letters (tens of thousands), so please bear with us whilst we work through everyone’s badge applications.

Can you award badges to younger children or anyone older than 15?

Unfortunately we cannot award badges to anyone under the age of five, or over the age of 15.

Can you apply for a badge on behalf of someone else?

We don’t accept individual applications on behalf of anyone else; children must apply for badges themselves. You can only nominate another child for a Gold badge. Children with additional needs can have from a grown-up when they make their application. 

I am neurodivergent/blind/have a disability, please may I send in my application a slightly different way?

At Blue Peter we welcome applications from children of all abilities, and we are always happy for a grown up to give . If writing a letter or completing the online application form is a big task, we can accept a video or pictures of you completing an activity for a badge. Please ask a parent or guardian to create a profile on My Blue Peter for you and then email your hip ID and application details to [email protected].

Can I only apply for a badge online?

You can apply for the original Blue badgeGreen badge, Music badge, Sport badge, Book badge and Purple Fan Club badge online.

You can apply for the Blue badge and Gold badge by post.  You can only get an Orange badge by being a winner or runner up in a Blue Peter competition.

Can I nominate someone for a Gold badge?

The Gold Blue Peter badge is the rarest badge of them all and are only given to individuals for extraordinary achievements. Find out how to apply for a Gold badge.

1. The Blue Peter Editor, in consultation with a of the BBC Studios Kids & Family Production team, carefully reviews each Gold Badge letter to make a decision.

2. Applications or nominations can only be made by letter.

3. The person must be aged 5-15, have already earned at least one other Blue Peter badge and be a holder of a valid badge card.

4. Please provide a detailed summary explaining what the person has achieved and documentation to an application.

5. The actions must be verifiable by an independent third party witness. Research will be undertaken by the Blue Peter team and the parent / guardian of the nominee, as appropriate may be ed and asked for relevant s to assist this research.

6. If you are under 18 years old, you must seek your (or your nominees) parent/guardian’s permission to make a nomination or application.

7. You must provide the name and telephone number and email address of the parent or legal guardian.

8. Blue Peter may the parent or guardian to check consent and to ask for additional information.

9. If you are nominating someone else, you must not submit personal data relating to another individual without first obtaining the permission of the nominee’s parent/guardian.

11. If a nomination for a gold badge is not successful and the circumstances have significantly changed, you may apply again, after 1 year.

12. The BBC cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any problem which may result in any nomination not properly ed.
