John: Ryan Yates. He flies under the radar. Ryan is the only player playing for Forest regularly who has graduated from the academy. Many questioned his place in the team when playing in the Championship. Few saw him playing in the Premiership. But he never stops running for the club. Opposing players can’t shake him. Dedicated. Tim: Very few people outside of the Reds' fanbase are talking about Yates. Gareth Southgate was looking for a replacement for Kalvin Phillips and Yates' performances this season have been extraordinary. He isn't a fancy player - what he has is blood, sweat and tears. He does the simple things well, is a leader of men and is a player nobody wants to face.

JoJo: With England still auditioning for Declan Rice's partner in the pivot, Yates deserves his chance. He has a habit of proving his doubters wrong! If anyone can reprise the valuable role that Jordan Henderson used to play for England, it's Yatesy.

Gary: Nicolas Dominguez - a lot of fans are now saying how good he is. I noticed last season and kept telling everyone but to no avail. Works his socks off and a great footballing brain.

Luke: Lots of comment being third in the league, but nobody actually saying we're the third-best team in the league, and I'm not sure why. It will be intriguing to see how long the narrative of 'enjoy it while it lasts' continues and at what point it is acknowledged as serious contention.

Rob: The club's league position is irrelevant at the moment and the overly positive media coverage is ridiculous. It's been 10 games (most of which Forest have faced bottom-half teams) and while things are going well, talk of Europe or a new era is typical media sensationalism.

Nottingham Forest are looking to move into a new era.

An expectation of improvement from last season was fair but few would have predicted they would be third as the campaign reached November.

Fixtures against Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City in the next few weeks will test Forest's staying power, but there is already enough optimism to seize on going forward.

The reported imminent appointment of Edu to work within owner Evangelos Marinakis' portfolio of clubs - yet to be confirmed by Forest - underlines their ambition to climb away from previous struggles and spending almost a quarter of a century in the shadows out of the top flight.

It is unclear how it will work and what exactly it means for Forest - or for the speed and nature of their trajectory.

But it gives Sunday's visit of Newcastle - with Nuno Espirito Santo back on the touchline following his ban - more significance, with Forest increasingly under the (positive) spotlight as opposed to last year's end-of-season chaos.

It is probably fair to say that being in the top four is not something Nottingham Forest as a team or as a set of fans anticipated, but the belief is certainly there around the club at this moment.

Their win at Anfield has aged incredibly well and that has taken them to this stage of not caring who they are playing, home or away, they know they have a really good chance of getting a result.

Nuno Espirito Santo has proven he can build defensively solid squads in the Premier League and he led Wolves to a place in the Europa League only a few years ago. He will have that in the back of his mind now he is at Forest, but he also knows it is a long season and to reach Europe you have to maintain your form.

The depth of their squad is an interesting debate.

I think of it as people filling in those gaps when players are injured, but the reality is that the vast majority of their players will be available for most of the season.

Instead of thinking about whether they have depth, you could pose the question of the importance of keeping those key players fit.

There are certain positions where Nuno can rotate and we have seen that already this season with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga sharing game time. They alternate the forward line and that has been working fine.

As long as the spine of the team remains similar then I think they have a chance to be successful this season.

Being on 19 points at this stage of the campaign is a good way of already cementing Premier League survival for another season. Nowadays you need 39 or more points to do that and now they would need less than a point a game to not hit that target. That seems unlikely.

Forest will be grounded in of their approach to success this season. They have gone through tough times but they are playing good football and they have the crowd right behind them.

It seems settled at the club and that is what they have been striving for.
