Sara Cox makes her return to the Eurovision Song Contest commentary booth, co-hosting alongside Radio 2 colleague and fellow fan of the contest, Richie Anderson. They’ll be live from Basel, Switzerland, for the first Semi-Final of the year!
Tonight fifteen countries take part, with the best ten qualifying for the Grand Final on Saturday night. Sara and Richie bring you all the action from the St. Jakobshalle arena, as we find out which countries' entries will be ing UK act, Monday, in Saturday’s Grand Final... alongside the acts from , , Italy, Spain and the host country Switzerland.

Sara previously commentated on the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Scott Mills in Düsseldorf (2011) and Baku (2012) and once again returned to the competition in 2021 when the contest was held in Rotterdam. Richie is a life-long Eurovision fan and has been known to host a Eurovision themed party on the night of the Grand Final! He was in Turin for the competition in 2022, reported live from Liverpool in 2023, and ed the BBC’s commentary team last year for the Semi Finals broadcast live from Malmö.
