Late-night springtime selections from Zakia to welcome the start of May, including Shirley Collins, Davy Graham and Ruth Tafebe. With a Dreambience mix from Maria Somerville.
DJ, broadcaster, writer and dreamer Zakia Sewell provides the soundtrack to your dreams - playing music to ease the mind, soothe the soul, and open portals to new dimensions…
Zakia heralds the coming of May with some folky springtime selections from the likes of Shirley Collins, Davy Graham and Nora Cleary, and also marks Dawn Chorus Day with a track dedicated to the endangered Nimba Flycatcher from Ivorian singer Ruth Tafebe, and some recordings from the Knepp Estate, a rewilding site in East Sussex.
Also, Irish singer and songwriter Maria Somerville evokes the hazy spaces between waking and dreaming in her Dreambience mix, with tracks from Ana Roxanne, Brìghde Chaimbeul and Cocteau Twins.
