Hard house is a high-energy subgenre of house music, known for its fast tempo, driving basslines and aggressive, pounding beats. It emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s, heavily influenced by the harder styles of techno and trance.

Pete shares some seminal hard house from the likes of Lock 'N Load, Baby Doc & The Dentist, Untidy DJs, Lisa Lashes, Tall Paul and more, as well as newer tracks that marked the revival of the genre courtesy of Marlon Hoffstadt, southstar and more.

Plus, another DJ who is leading the charge today, Hannah Laing picks her genre essentials, and we rewind it back with a legendary classic 1995 Essential Mix from 'The Godfather of Hard House' Tony De Vit, a man credited with helping to take the hard house sound of the London and Birmingham gay scene into mainstream clubs.
