Man, 80, dies in Borders village house fire

An 80-year-old man has died in a fire in a Scottish Borders village at the weekend.

Emergency services were called out at about 00:15 on Saturday to reports of the fire on Grafton Road in Town Yetholm near Kelso.

A short statement from Police Scotland said that the pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene.

It added that there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
