Driver in critical condition after van hits tree

The road was closed for nine hours while police conducted an investigation

A driver is in a critical condition after a crash which closed a busy Nottinghamshire road.

Police were called to the A6097 Oxton By at 05:20 BST on Thursday morning to reports of a single vehicle incident.

Officers have confirmed a white van hit a tree and the male driver was taken to hospital.

The dual carriageway was reopened shortly after 15:00.

No more details of the injured man have so far been released.
