Woman dies in hospital following A96 two-car crash

An 80-year-old woman has died in hospital following a crash on the A96 near Nairn on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Gray was a enger in a white Dacia Sandero involved in a collision with a green Renault Master van at the junction with Wester Hardmuir Fruit Farm.

Mrs Gray, who was known as Diane, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The 79-year-old driver of the Dacia was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

The driver of the van, a 57-year-old woman, was not injured. She was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

Police Scotland has appealed for information on the crash, which happened at about 15:00.

Sgt Doug Scott said: “Our thoughts are with Diane’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We continue to appeal to anyone with any information on the crash to Police Scotland."
