Warning as driver is caught doing 129mph

Police have warned lives are at risk from speeding drivers after a motorist was caught driving at nearly 130mph (209.2 kmh).

A dark-coloured car was caught on a speed camera being driven at 129mph on the A12 at Wickham Market in Suffolk.

The car was captured on camera at 09:53 BST on Tuesday.

Norfolk and Suffolk Police's Safety Camera team warned about the dangers of speeding in a post on social media.

Punishments for breaking speeding laws vary depending on how far over the speed limit a motorist is driving.

For roads with a 70mph (112.6 kmh) limit, anyone caught doing more than 101mph (162.5kmh) faces a Band C fine, according to sentencing guidelines.

Band C fines are the most severe and can result in disqualifications of between seven and 56 days - or six points on a driver's licence.
