The Guernsey Police said the total damage value was approximately £5000

A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after his jacket was found following a burglary at Town Church in Guernsey.

Kyle Henderson used a fire extinguisher to break through the vestry door before CCTV showed him moving around the church by torchlight before smashing the offerings tube to pieces in January.

Guernsey Police said the total damage was valued at approximately £5000.

Henderson was sentenced by the Magistrates' Court on Thursday after pleading guilty.

He was arrested after police found his discarded jacket near his home, which he was seen wearing on the CCTV footage of the burglary.

Further CCTV showed Henderson leaving the town area and making his way to his home address.
